Aerosol Deposition in the Central Airways
UCY-CompSci has been an early advocate for the need to establish well-documented open-access benchmark cases for validation of CFPD tools being used by various groups for pulmonary aerosol deposition studies. In collaboration with our partners in COST Action MP1404 – “SimInhale”, UCY-CompSci has helped establish the “SimInhale” Benchmark case, which is now available through the ERCOFTAC Knowledge Base Wiki. The Benchmark case provides a good example of combined in vitro – in silico deposition studies and exemplifies the capabilities of our group in predicting regional deposition in the extrathoracic airways and upper tracheobronchial tree.
